Job Description:

Position: Assistant Manager – Indirect taxation   Function: Finance, Legal, HR and support   Industry : Retail

Position Purpose: Ensure that all the statutory requirements of sales tax, profession tax, luxury tax are met by the SO as well as the DC and all the units and also ensure that all the assessments are carried out on time.

  • Ensure timely payment of sales tax, Service Tax– submission of timely information to sales tax / Service Tax authorities for Assessment of KRT & SSL.
  • Liaison with Sales Tax Authorities / Service Tax Authorities for Assessments & various other work
  • Prepare the Sales tax assessment schedules.
  • Train the Unit teams on sales tax computation.
  • Monitor the activities at the units and control any variances.
  • Ensure concessionaire payment and SOH payments are received and booked in the system, provide MIS information for income-related to concessionaires.
  • Keep an update on sales tax, Service Tax laws/rules changes in all states & implementation of the same.
  • Frequent training of B & M informing them on changes in sales tax laws/rules
  • Sort out any sales tax related problems at any of the units, keep track of any amendments to the sales tax laws, sales tax computation software development in co-ordination with IT and ensuring fulfillment of statutory compliance in respect of concessionaire
  • Accurate computation of commercial tax. Filing of monthly return before due date
  • Completion of pending commercial tax assessment / VAT audit and effectively managing appeals
  • Handling monthly MIS reporting of sales register, stock transfer, sales tax workings
  • Resolve vendor issues like rate differences, difference for local/interstate vendors, tax calculation
  • Preparation of WCT  and other tax certificate for work contract and local consignment vendor
  • To liaise with IT for successful software for sales tax
  • Prepare C&F forms database, maintain it and make it more informative and understandable
  • To prepare the details required for VAT audit / business audit / assessment and complete the same.
  • Should have good computer knowledge with added advantage if having knowledge of Oracle and MMS
  • Should have handled VAT compliance of various states. Should have an experience in calculating VAT/CST/Entry Tax as per Law of different states
  • Should have handled computation of Service tax and CENVAT tax credit
